Where is Rovinj, Croatia?

Rovinj is in the country of Croatia on the western coast of the Istrian Peninsula. Rovinj is a fishing town on the Adriatic Sea and a picture-perfect destination.

1. Cafe Cinema (coffee)

The first stop of your Rovinj walking tour is at Cafe Cinema. Cafe Cinema is a lovely cafe to get coffee.

The outdoor terrace overlooks the harbor.

The water from the Adriatic Sea is a beautiful shade of blue. There is nothing like drinking coffee to start your tour of a new city.

Get a few coffees and a pastry and enjoy the views and sunshine.

2. Rovinj Harbor

A trip to Rovinj is not complete without sitting by the harbor admiring the views.

There are several benches and plenty of cafes to enjoy the views.

Looking into the distance from the port, you can see St. Euphemia Church and the old town.

You will walk around the harbor to make your way to Titaโ€™s Square.

 

3. Titaโ€™s Square (Trg Marลกala Tita)

Titaโ€™s Square is the central plaza in the city of Rovinj.

It has a bell tower, fountain, and cafes.

 

4. The Old Town of Rovinj

The Old Town in Rovinj is perfect for wandering around and exploring. Rovinjโ€™s Old Town is full of cobblestone streets, colorful houses, cafes, and shops.

You could easily spend a few hours getting lost in the streets and alleyways.

Most of Rovinjโ€™s attractions are in the Old Town.

5. Balbiโ€™s Ach

The entrance to the Old Town is through Balbiโ€™s Arch. This location was where the original city gate once stood.

6. Grisia Street

Balbiโ€™s Arch leads to Grisia Street, the most picturesque street in Rovinj.

There are tons of shops along Grisia Street.

This street is perfect for taking photos.

Grisia Street goes up to St. Euphemia Church.

 

7. St. Euphemia Church

St. Euphemia Church is at the top of the hill overlooking the sea and the town of Rovinj.

The legend of St. Euphemia is an interesting one.

According to the legend, Euphemia was tortured and killed because she refused to give up her religion. St. Euphemia's remains were in Constantinople but then were lost. One day, her remains were said to have floated in the sea along the coastline of Rovinj.

She is known as the protector of Rovinj, and her tomb is inside the church.

From St. Euphemia Church, you can get some of the best views overlooking the city and the sea.

8. Rovinjโ€™s hidden alleyways

After leaving the Church of Euphemia, we recommend wandering the streets and alleyways on the eastern side of Rovinj.

9. Tunaholic Fish Bar

After all that walking, it will be time for lunch. Because of its location on the sea, Rovinj has fantastic seafood restaurants.

This restaurant has a few outdoor tables to enjoy their delicious fresh seafood.

We recommend fried shrimp and fried squid. Both come with a side of fries and two dipping sauces.

The squid is 70 kunas ($10), and the shrimp is 65 kunas ($9.28).

 

10.  Seaside Swimming Spots

If the weather is warm, there are several places to sunbathe on the rocks and swim.

There are also restaurants along the seaside with access to the rocks and beach area.

Even if it is not warm enough for swimming, it is still delightful to sit on the rocks.

 

11. Gelato

The last stop of our Rovinj itinerary is to get gelato.

Rovinj has plenty of gelato shops to choose from, so grab a gelato and enjoy the harbor views.
