Chinatown is in the middle of London’s West End in the borough of Westminster. It is near Leicester Square and the Leicester Square tube station. Gerrard Street is the main street in Chinatown.

 
 

What are the must-eat foods in Chinatown?

These are the five best things to eat in London Chinatown.

-Taiwanese popcorn chicken

-Taiyaki (Japanese fish-shaped cake)

Good Friend Chicken is a Taiwanese restaurant known for having some of the best fried chicken in Chinatown.

In Taiwan, fried chicken is popular street food at night markets.

One of their best sellers is popcorn chicken.

There are several flavors to choose from to add a bit of extra seasoning to the chicken. We recommend the garlic seasoning, but the plum, chili, and cheese were popular options.

The popcorn chicken is £6.50.

 

2. Brown Sugar Boba Milk

Xing Fu Tang is a bubble tea shop in Chinatown. Their signature drink is brown sugar boba milk.

Daily from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm

From the storefront window, you can watch the staff make the boba. Xing Fu Tang uses brown sugar and water to make the boba. They stir fry the boba for four hours.  

There are special instructions for enjoying the boba milk.

The first step is to put the straw into the top layer of the drink to taste the brown sugar and cream. Then put the straw into the cup and stir 18 times. Then enjoy the delicious Taiwanese drink.

The boba was a perfect consistency and had the right amount of sweetness.

The signature brown sugar boba milk is £4.95.

 

3. Soft Shell Crab Roll

Cha Cha Roll is a fast-food restaurant that serves sushi burritos. In addition to the burritos, Cha Cha Roll also has bento boxes, bowls, and salads.

Chinatown London Guide Soft Shell Crab Roll

We highly recommend the soft shell crab roll.

It has soft shell crab, carrot, cucumber, tobiko, round lettuce, and lollo rosso. The sauce used in the roll is purple ume. The roll was fresh, crunchy, and tasty.

The soft shell crab roll is £7.30.

 

4. Taiyaki (Japanese fish-shaped cake)

Chinatown Bakery is a bakery in Chinatown that serves sweet and savory baked goods. The bakery is famous for its Taiyaki. Taiyaki are Japanese fish-shaped cakes filled with custard.

We recommend the strawberry and Nutella souffle. The souffle was light and fluffy. Eating this dessert was the perfect way to end the day in Chinatown.

The souffle is £6.30.
